You know roughly what goes out. You know roughly what comes in. What you don’t know, at 11pm on a Tuesday, is whether that’s going to be fine.

Nothing tells you the day. Your bank shows a balance. Your bills have dates. Working out where they cross is a job nobody does at the kitchen table.

We do that sum every day and give you one line: the date to move money in, and how much. You move it. That’s the whole job.

05 · Who made it

One person, in Doncaster

I built it for myself first, because I was losing track.

Bills going out on days I’d half-remembered. Appointments I couldn’t afford to miss. A to-do list living in four places and none of them right.

Every app I tried wanted me to get organised first, then rewarded me with a dashboard. I wanted the opposite — something that read what was already there and told me the one thing I actually had to do about it today.

So it shows its working, because I don’t trust things that just assert. It stays quiet, because I ignore apps that shout. And it runs on a machine that’s yours, because what goes in it is your life, not a product someone else gets to keep.
